The MCM, Mine Countermeasures Vessel, is a wood sheathed with Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) hulled, self-propelled vessel. MMC completed the design and constructed these vessels to meet rigid Military Standards (MILSTD) and classified “fully shock qualified” shock standards.
The propulsion plant is a twin screw, four-diesel system with reversible, controllable pitch propellers. Each vessel was equipped with a remotely operated handling system to launch and retrieve a Honeywell ROV mine neutralization system, magnetic/acoustic influence sweep equipment, mechanical sweep equipment, and a magnetic minesweeping vehicle. Combat data, sonar, and radar systems where also installed. MMC delivered (3) of these vessels for the U.S. Navy between 1989 and 1991.
